As an instructor you will have many roles: a motivator, an encourager, an atmosphere creator, a listener, a giver of comfort and security, a limit setter and sometimes an adult against whom children can practice a little rebellion. As an instructor you plan, organize and evaluate the training. You are in contact with the children’s guardians and, in during the training, bear responsibility for both the children’s physical and mental well-being and safety.
The most important task is to motivate and activate the children. A good instructor knows how to educate and how to control a group, but it is important to also listen, observe, ask and to give and take feedback. Remember that children’s sports are for children, so make sure to ask the kids why they want to participate.
The foundation of being a successful instructor is your own motivation and enthusiasm.
