DiscKids Disc Golf Instructor’s Course

This online course is free and open to anyone interested in instructing disc golf. It is based on the Finnish Disc Golf Association’s Instructor 1 course and the Finnish Olympic Committee’s instructors basics.

This course gives you the basic skills to design, plan and run guided disc golf exercises. The course focuses on instructing children and youth, but the lessons are applicable to all age groups.

Over these lessons you will learn about how to meet and lead a group, you will learn the basics of instructing disc golf and you will have a look into disc golf technique. You also get some templates and ideas for designing and preparing your training.

You are expected to be somewhat familiar with the sport disc golf, so the course does not cover the ins and outs of the sport in detail. You don’t need to throw 200 meters or know the rules of the sport by heart, but it does help if you know the most common throws and the basics about the types of discs and understand some disc golf vocabulary.

This course will prepare you to:

• work with children and youth
• work with a group
• plan and run motivating exercises
• understand and teach disc golf technique

Completing this online course takes about 1.5 hours. If you register a user name, you can save your progress and continued later.

The course is free and can be re-taken at will.
