A fun warm up game where putting skills alone don’t decide – you also have to be an ace in rock-paper-scissors! It’s easy to add different motor exercises to this game.
Supplies
- Basket (preferably two)
- At least the same number of putters as players
Preparations
- Mark the starting spot and decide what the “running” or movement task will be.
- Mark a putting distance (or several, for mixed groups)
- Divide the group into two teams
Rules
- The aim is to win discs in the Rock-Paper-Scissors (RPS) -arena and putt them in your team’s basket
- The winner is the team that made the most discs putts
- Players line up in two lines (one for each team) next to each other.
- One player from both teams is sent from the front of the line to run to the RPS arena. You can send pairs every couple of seconds – the goal is that once things get going, everyone is running and no-one is waiting in line! Instead of running, you can instruct them to cross-step, run backwards, jump on one leg, etc. to the arena.
- At the arena a game of RPS decides which player gets a disc
- The loser runs back to the starting line to wait for a new opponent, the winner runs to the putt-line and
- tries to putt the disc he/she won into the basket
- if the putt misses, the player retrieves the putter and returns it to the RPS arena, and then
- runs to the starting line for another round
- Made putts stay in the basket.
- The game ends when all putters from the RPS arena are in the baskets.
Variations
If you have only one basket, you can modify the rules as follows:
- Both teams play to a common basket, but use their own discs
- discs that missed the basket are returned to the RPS arena.
- The goal is to get all the discs of your team into the basket.
